Forbes Phoenix

Our Bloke – Neil Toole

March 1, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Neil Toole

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? Other than living in Sydney for 10 years, I have lived in Forbes for my whole life. Forbes is a great place for a balanced family lifestyle and most of our friends and family live here.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I have worked at Jemalong Irrigation as the General Manager for 14 years.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? Squash, waterskiing, bike riding, camping, fishing or a game of cards with friends is always good.

What are you really good at? Corny dad jokes.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Teleportation. The world’s your oyster.

What is your pet hate? People with a sense of entitlement and indifference.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. Our most recent trip to Africa and seeing what the kids got out of it, but by default, isn’t the next holiday always the best wherever it may be?

Opportunity Knocking At Your Door

February 22, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

12 Cross Street, Forbes is sure to impress in your portfolio with huge potential situated so close to town. Create a home with eight bedrooms into whatever your heart desires. Vendors wanted it gone yesterday and have given the property a makeover in a way where you can imagine designing your long awaited modern kitchen area along with lounge room and maybe even a stylish bath room. It’s your call for this once called doctor’s surgery to be now made into a well-located family home with huge potential.

107 Flint Street, South Forbes home offers to the market a very well maintained three bedroom home situated in a highly desired area of town. Set back off Flint Street allows for this home to have plenty of privacy when entertaining guests. Vendor needs gone as maintenance and upkeep is becoming unrealistic. If you’re thinking about investing your money in the rental market or occupying a desired home in South Forbes, then 107 Flint Street could be yours.

8712 Lachlan Valley Way, Forbes. We all know that finding approximately 5 acres just outside of town with a very tidy three bedroom cottage set amongst established grapevines, gardens and lawns is like finding a needle in a hay stack. This once off opportunity has now risen to the market’s attention with so much potential.

Chislett’s vineyard was well known around the district for his divine red and white wine. The estate is being wound up and vendor has done a wonderful job maintaining the property like Mr Chislett had done some years ago. It’s now your time to buy such a rarity.

Who is your favourite historical person?

February 22, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Matt Prow: I love Madonna because she is such a talented person and she’s a pretty good dancer.

Peter Clifton: Winston Churchill because of what he did for the Second World War.

Kathy Prow: It would have to be Jesus. The reason being he loved humanity and set a great example.

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes for 15 years and I love the community spirit that exists. There are plenty of creative souls here as well, you can always find something new to do.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I teach Year 1 at St Laurence’s Primary School. I work with an incredible team and every day with the kids is different, challenging and rewarding all at once.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I’m a complete homebody, and love to read, read some more and drink tea. I soak up my family on the weekends, as the weeks are so busy.

What are you really good at? I’m an exceptional plant-killer. Anyone who knows me, knows I do not have a green thumb at all. Though I do keep trying.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Definitely teleportation. I wouldn’t mind a weekend in Tuscany or Morocco and being back in time for dinner on Sunday.

What is your pet hate? The sound of someone eating. Especially ice.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. A trip to Fiji a couple of years ago with our kids was amazing. It was a real experience for us all to visit a primary school there, and have lunch with a local family in their home. It helped us to appreciate what we have and what we take for granted every day.

What do you like most about your school? The students from Forbes North Public School answered.

February 8, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Annabelle Cross (9): I like that it’s a nice and kind school and that we get to do lots of fun activities.

Charlotte Markwort (9): I like that my school is a fun, safe, respectful and responsible place.

Philip Klingner (10): I like that I can play with my friends and have fun at recess and lunch.

If you could be a Commonwealth Games athlete, in which sport would you compete?

February 1, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Christine Anderson: Cycling. My dad used to be a cyclist when he was younger.

Hannah Harris (6): Gymnastics. I would really like to do gymnastics because I love doing cartwheels and handstands.

Annette Thornton: Swimming. It’s a nice cool sport fitting for this weather.
