Supporting Ronald McDonald House Orange

Forbes Rugby is playing its part in the Central West Rugby Fundraising Challenge. This is an initiative supported by Blowes Menswear, who is not only a major sponsor of our competition but also a supporter of RMHC Orange, and has called upon our zone to help raise funds in support of the phenomenal work of Ronald McDonald House Orange.
Since opening in 2015, RMHC Orange has assisted at least 95 families from Forbes and surrounds. All money raised will stay in Orange to support families from the central and far west as their child is receiving specialist and life-saving treatment in Orange Hospital. Reserves were unlucky not to get the win in a bold display while the Women’s were outclassed by the Spacecats. In the top grade, Parkes showed many why they are a formidable outfit in 2021 with a strong 38-22 victory over a gallant Magpies outfit.

Forbes Winter Show Postponed

The Forbes Winter Show has been reschedule for the 24th October. The lockdowns in three nearby LGAs, together with the restrictions on anyone who had travelled through those areas, combined with the fact that we shouldn’t be encouraging travel through those regions, made it too difficult to run our event as planned, a Facebook post stated.
We are looking forward to our new date in October when the COVID situation has hopefully settled down. Sorry for the disappointment and thank you all so much for your support. Refunds on all pre-entries, less nomination processing fees will be put through the system today.

Magpies Go Down In Arm Wrestle

After last weeks loss to CYMS, Forbes had a point to prove this week and while they didn’t get the chocolates, the 24-14 loss to Macquarie Raiders was a big effort. Forbes will be kicking themselves for the litany of missed chances and could well have beaten their more fancied rivals. Onwards and upwards though in some promising signs for first grade.

Little Magpies Win Goodwin Molloy Cup

Forbes has taken out the 2021 Goodwin Molloy Cup. Stemming from a rivalry that goes back to 2014 and named after former West Wyalong and Penrith player Matt Goodwin as well as Forbes Stalwart Craig Molloy, the cup is played across all competitive grades with the glory going to the team with the most wins on the day.

Allstars Back To Drawing Board

It was a game to forget for Forbes Allstars who came crashing back to reality with a 3-0 loss to Parkes Wanderers at home. After a good run of results, the Allstars had every reason to be confident but the Wanderers got the win.

Forbes Soccer Club Scores Big With Two Local Sporting Grants

February 26, 2021 By Maggi Barnard

Member for Orange, Phil Donato MP

Member for Orange, Phil Donato MP, on Monday, 22 February announced successful funding for the Forbes and District Soccer Club (the Club) under the Local Sporting Grant Program 2019/20.

A total of $13,300 in grants funding has been awarded to the Club for two projects, both of which Phil Donato MP deemed particularly worthy of support.

“The Club will be implementing a pathways program for the development of female players, for which they requested $2,000 and received full funding,” Mr Donato explained . “The larger grant of $11,300 was for a First Aid Injury Recovery Treatment Room, which will be an important as-set when it comes to the safety of players.

“The Club has shown great initiative and rather than building a new Treatment Room they are actually converting an unused storage space at the Botanical Gardens.”

“It was a pleasure to support this grant, which was submitted by the members of the Forbes Soccer Club,” said Mr Donato.

Club Secretary Doug McKenzie said that he was pleased to have received the funding, and was eager to see the project completed in the near future.
