Forbes Phoenix

Our Gal

March 22, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Tess Bailey

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I moved to Forbes two and a half years ago. I love the people of Forbes who have all been so welcoming and made me feel part of the town. I have made some amazing friends here.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I am a Mixed Farm and Companion Animal Vet at Lachlan Valley Vets. I love building relationships with my clients and patients and the variation in my work. I love working outside in a paddock or doing indicate surgery.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I love to unwind on the farm with my Koolie Pip and catching up with friends and family.

What are you really good at? I am really good at always being a bridesmaid, never the bride. I have been lucky enough to be involved 8 times in my friends’ special days and I have picked up quite a few skills.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? To be able to time travel.

What is your pet hate? My pet hate is people who don’t understand the whole situation, making judgement.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. My best holiday was when I volunteered as a Vet in South Africa. I was able to treat four day old lion cubs and do surgery on a rhino.

Our Bloke

Kerry Dunstan

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I’ve been living in Forbes since 1974. I find it to be a great, friendly town with very helpful people.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I’m retired now and of course busier than ever. I was working for Mcfeeters Wool for 37 years before that, which is a long time in one job.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I like to be with family, relax and watch the races and football. Just casual things that most blokes like to do. What are you really good at? Fundraising for charity.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? To raise a lot of money for charities, so that all of them always have plenty of it to help people with. Simple as that!

What is your pet hate? People that say they’re bored and have nothing to do. There’s no need for them to be.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. We did a bus trip about twelve years ago to the Northern Territory that was very good and will have to be my favourite holiday adventure.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

March 15, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Kaye McMillan: I am most proud of the support that we’ve given our children throughout the years. That has helped them achieve the success they can celebrate today.

Felicity Nolan: The kids we have.

Julie Forrester: I am most proud of raising four daughters on my own.

Our Gal – Eliza Acret

Eliza Acret

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes for about two and a half years. I love that the people are so friendly that when you walk down the street they say ‘hello’.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I’m a hairdresser at Hair with Style and I love everything about my job! I just absolutely love it!

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I go to the gym or watch Netflix and chill.

What are you really good at? I’m really good at my job and my friends say that I make them laugh.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? It would be cool to be a wizard and to have any type of magic.

What is your pet hate? My pet hate would have to be people leaving a mess.

Tell us about your best holiday ever.
When I was ten, I went to Disneyland and danced there.

Question of the Week?

March 8, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Who would you like to live like for a day?

Kerry Stevenson: Pat Boone, a famous singer during the 1950’s early 1960’s. He performed songs such as ‘Tutti Frutti’ and gospel music. When I was growing up, I used to like to listen to him.

Lyn Besgrove: A millionaire. Just to be able to help people, especially ones living with cancer.

Jason Godden: Donald Trump. So that I can change the gun law policies.

What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?

March 1, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Frank Magnus: Reading glasses and hearing aids. As you get older you realise how very important they are.

Mary-Ellen Fraser: The phone.

Rayleen Paradowski: Transport in general. Just because everybody can go everywhere.

Our Bloke – Neil Toole

Neil Toole

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? Other than living in Sydney for 10 years, I have lived in Forbes for my whole life. Forbes is a great place for a balanced family lifestyle and most of our friends and family live here.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I have worked at Jemalong Irrigation as the General Manager for 14 years.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? Squash, waterskiing, bike riding, camping, fishing or a game of cards with friends is always good.

What are you really good at? Corny dad jokes.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Teleportation. The world’s your oyster.

What is your pet hate? People with a sense of entitlement and indifference.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. Our most recent trip to Africa and seeing what the kids got out of it, but by default, isn’t the next holiday always the best wherever it may be?

Opportunity Knocking At Your Door

February 22, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

12 Cross Street, Forbes is sure to impress in your portfolio with huge potential situated so close to town. Create a home with eight bedrooms into whatever your heart desires. Vendors wanted it gone yesterday and have given the property a makeover in a way where you can imagine designing your long awaited modern kitchen area along with lounge room and maybe even a stylish bath room. It’s your call for this once called doctor’s surgery to be now made into a well-located family home with huge potential.

107 Flint Street, South Forbes home offers to the market a very well maintained three bedroom home situated in a highly desired area of town. Set back off Flint Street allows for this home to have plenty of privacy when entertaining guests. Vendor needs gone as maintenance and upkeep is becoming unrealistic. If you’re thinking about investing your money in the rental market or occupying a desired home in South Forbes, then 107 Flint Street could be yours.

8712 Lachlan Valley Way, Forbes. We all know that finding approximately 5 acres just outside of town with a very tidy three bedroom cottage set amongst established grapevines, gardens and lawns is like finding a needle in a hay stack. This once off opportunity has now risen to the market’s attention with so much potential.

Chislett’s vineyard was well known around the district for his divine red and white wine. The estate is being wound up and vendor has done a wonderful job maintaining the property like Mr Chislett had done some years ago. It’s now your time to buy such a rarity.

Who is your favourite historical person?

February 22, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Matt Prow: I love Madonna because she is such a talented person and she’s a pretty good dancer.

Peter Clifton: Winston Churchill because of what he did for the Second World War.

Kathy Prow: It would have to be Jesus. The reason being he loved humanity and set a great example.
