How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes since I was four years old. I love country life and the supportive community in which we reside.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I have worked at Forbes North Public School since 1995 but have been teaching for over 31 years. At the moment I am Relieving Principal which I love. I enjoy connecting with my students and wider community. I am also a Councillor on Forbes Shire Council which is both challenging and rewarding.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I enjoy waterskiing, gardening, playing golf, watching movies and most importantly spending time with family.

What are you really good at? I am really good at saying “yes”. I often agree to help in a lot of areas when I am time poor but always get the job completed.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? My super power would be to communicate with family who have passed away. There are so many questions I wished I had asked.

What is your pet hate? I dislike people who yell at children.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. The best holiday I had was a family trip to New Zealand with my blended family and meeting family we hadn’t met.

What is your favourite teddy bear’s name and why do you like this teddy bear so much?

October 26, 2017 by Maggi Barnard

Lexi Millerd: My favourite teddy bear’s name is Sonny. I like him because my mummy had it when she was a little girl.

Josie Watson: Morris is my favourite teddy because my granny gave her to me.

Asnika Sutharjan: My favourite teddy bear is Tandi. It changes colours when you rub it and goes from white to pink.

QUESTION of the week

October 19, 2017 by Maggi Barnard

What are your thoughts on the replacement of the existing Camp Street Bridge?

John Zannes: The new proposed design is a great opportunity for Forbes to reinvigorate an entry from the east into Forbes.

Susan Chau: It’s wonderful for us to have a new and safer, more up to date bridge whilst still maintaining the heritage features such as the preserving of the beautiful antique lights.

Brett Rout: It’s due for an upgrade and the most important thing is the safety of the community

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I was born in Forbes in 1983. I have lived here most of my life.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I work for Lachlan Commodities Pty Limited. I love the job because it is challenging and involves a lot of my personal likes such as agriculture and market development.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I enjoy golf, fishing and plenty of time in the garden.

What are you really good at? I would like to say golf and fishing but that wouldn’t be true. I would have to say I think I am good at my job.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? To be able to fly.

What is your pet hate? Duffing my first tee shot at golf.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. I can’t, I just got married last Saturday and we are about to start our best holiday ever!

What is the hardest thing about being an adult?

October 12, 2017 by Maggi Barnard

Jackson Brown: The hardest thing about being an adult, among other things, is paying the bills and mortgages.

Don White: It would have to be growing old and maintaining your fitness.

Alec Langfield: It just happens! I feel lucky to be an adult!

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? My husband Terry and I moved here from Orange 43 years ago. I love being able to collect my mail at the Post Office each day and seeing the people I know there. I also love living in Lower Bathurst Street and like admiring the magnificent historic Forbes buildings.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I operate a general freight transport business with my husband and also work part time for the Australian Wool Testing Authority based at Jemalong Wool Forbes. I like to see happy customers, and also the satisfaction of doing a good quality job.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I love to spend time with family and grandchildren and also coach netball and umpire. I also love to knit… I have been a knitting freak since I was a teenager.

What are you really good at? People would probably say… talking. I have been told I am a good fundraiser for community groups. They say I can sell anything to raise money for a good cause. I could even sell ice to Eskimos.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? There are so many things that need fixing in this world but if we could all have good health, we could probably tackle most things.

What is your pet hate? Definitely dishonesty, in all forms.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. I am not a very good holiday person so I don’t have many but probably our trip to the Flinders Rangers many years ago.

Brenton Howarth: My favourite app is Weatherzone, so that I can plan ahead.

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I lived in Bedgerabong for my first 17 years and have lived in Forbes ever since. Forbes is a quiet and peaceful town with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of caring people. It is also good to get anywhere in town in a few minutes.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I am retired. What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? Gardening, walking my dog, spending time with my wife and grandchildren.

What are you really good at? I am ok with numbers and can get along with most people quite easily.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? The power to rid the world of power hungry people.

What is your pet hate? Bad mannered and aggressive drivers.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. I have just returned from four weeks with my wife touring the Scottish Highlands, Croatia and Lake Como in Northern Italy and it was as good as any holiday I have had.
