Forbes Phoenix

Our Bloke -Tim Redfern

September 27, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes all my life. I enjoy the people and easy lifestyle. I also like the feel of the town with the lake running through it.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I work at Lachlan Readymix. I enjoy a sense of accomplishment, working with great staff and good customers.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I try to relax and enjoy spending time with my family and grandkids.

What are you really good at? I’m really good at cooking (ask my wife).

If you could have a super power, what would it be? The power to cure cancer.

What is your pet hate? Don’t hate anything, but don’t like Queensland beating NSW.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. A trip to Europe. London, Ireland, Scotland, Paris and Venice was brilliant. The history and scale of everything puts things into perspective.

Matthew Little: Learning how to swim at a very young age.

Wendy Muffet: The capacity to say “What do you need and how can I help?” is such an important skill in the context of building community.

Emma Little: Being compassionate and always smiling.

QUESTION of the week -What do you do to stay healthy?

September 20, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Lara Tulaga: Staying healthy for me means living a balanced lifestyle. Work, family, diet, exercise, enjoyments, love, friends, family and life experiences!

Vicki Dick: I stay healthy by using food as medicine. Our bodies thrive on whole foods and become less so on processed food. Also lots of sun, filtered water, good friends and family.

Giselle Taunton: To stay healthy I live an active life! I love to run, swim, kayak, adventure and most importantly laugh!

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I live in Eugowra and have been doing so for 12 years. I love Forbes because I grew up in the area, went to school here and I love the people and the surrounds.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I work at Forbes Shire Council as the Senior Communications Officer. I enjoy meeting lots of new people and the excitement of local government.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I enjoy bushwalking and I have three active boys that keep me busy.

What are you really good at? Designing any creative work and photography.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? To be able to stop time.

What is your pet hate? Negativity, I don’t like people giving a straight out “No”. There’s always a way.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. Last year my husband (who is originally from England) and I took our boys to England. It was great experiencing it through their eyes.

Our Gal -Tara Kelly

September 6, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? We moved to Forbes in 2007. Our kids have gotten a better education and more opportunities here, plus it’s been a great town to enjoy life with friends and family!

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I recently started my own business Tara Kelly Real Estate. I love helping people solve their real estate dilemmas!

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I love doing an early morning walk around the lake and having barbeques and a few drinks on the banks of the Lachlan River.

What are you really good at? I would like to say singing, however I’m not really very good… but I wish I was!

If you could have a super power, what would it be? I always wanted to be able to fight like Bruce Lee.

What is your pet hate? When smokers throw cigarette butts out their car window.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. I went on a cruise in the Caribbean many years ago. The water was crystal clear and the weather was amazing.
