Our Gal – Sarah Davies

Sarah Davies

How long have you lived in Forbes? I was born and raised in Forbes but spent three years on the Sunshine Coast before returning in 2011.

Where do you work? I am the Customer Experience and Marketing Manager for the Bernardi Group.

What do you do in your free time?
Spend time hanging out with my husband and three kids! And I also publish an online kids interior publication called Minty Magazine (www.mintymagazine.com.au)

How do you like your coffee? Latte with one sugar please!

What makes your day? When the kids say something funny or a day skiing and camping with my family and friends, or getting excellent customer service – it’s the little things that have the biggest impact!

If you could go anywhere in the world on holiday where would it be? Right now life is very busy, so I’d love a quiet villa in Bali to kick back and relax with the family for a while.

Question of the Week?

July 28, 2016 by Maggi Barnard

What would you do if you won $8.8 million?

FayGreen

Fay Green, Forbes North Public School: I would pay off all my debt, set my children up and move to Cooktown in Queesland. We have just bought a property there for the fishing lifestyle. We’d be able to fish for the rest of our lives!

JanelleJackson

Janelle Jackson, KMWL: I’d retire, share some money with my family and friends and go on holiday to Canada to see my family living there.

LorraineAllen

Lorraine Allen, Taxi Driver: The first thing I’d do is to help two of my children who have mortgages to pay it off, and I’d buy a house for my third child who does not own a home at the moment. I wouldn’t have to work again – I’ve been working since I was 16. I have a caravan and I would tour all around Australia. It is the best country in the world!

How long have you lived in Forbes? I moved here about 14 years ago. I had a farm in Tullamore for 19 years, sold it and moved to Sydney where I gained some hospitality experience before moving to Forbes in December 2002.

Where do you work? I bought the Vandenberg Hotel 14 years ago.

What do you enjoy most about your job? The most interesting part is dealing with people, talking about their lives, and serving the public.

What do you do in your spare time? I do not have much spare time, but when I get time my partner and I like to travel in our motorhome to see parts of Australia.

How do you like your coffee? Latte – the soft approach.

What makes your day? Probably knowing I have achieved something for the day no matter how big or small, and also when I have learned something new.

If you could go on holiday anywhere in the world where would you go? I would like to see Europe as I haven’t been to any parts of it.

Question of the Week?

July 21, 2016 by Maggi Barnard

What do you think of the Pokémon Go craze?

AprilLewis

April Lewis, Spotlight: I think it’s good for getting people with anxiety and depression out of the house. It is bad as people get ignorant and don’t look when crossing roads. I play it with my friends but am always aware of my surroundings. I think there are better games out there.

SabrinaCalvani

Sabrina Calvani, Aglio E Olio: I don’t know much about it, but what I hear I don’t like as adults are crossing roads without looking. What are we teaching kids?

JohnHick

John Hick, Bunnings: I love it. I play it with my kids. We walked at least 20km over the weekend. I grew up with Pokémon and wished this game had come out when I was a kid.

Question of the Week?

July 14, 2016 by Maggi Barnard

What did you think of the Sydney Weekender program on Forbes?

HelenBrinckley

Helen Brinckley (with grandkids Charlie and Sophia), Royal Far West: It was interesting. The cars were great. I suppose it is the first time I’ve ever seen anything rural and with animals on the program. They could have showed a little bit more of Forbes.

WendyAdams

Wendy Adams, Vinnies: It was very good and very well presented. It can only mean good things for Forbes. A lot of people like this little town. It is very unique.

JoanBeadon

Joan Beadon, Royal Far West: It was a great program. I liked the bit about the motor museum. It’s a pity they did not show more of it. I think it will be very good for Forbes.

All my life – I was born here. I have only been away for four years when I went to study pharmacy in Wagga.

Where do you work?
At Flannery’s and Life Pharmacies.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
The people – seeing customers, and working with both teams who are fantastic.

What do you do in your free time?
I have two little ones and about to have another one. I spend a lot of time with
them going to playgroups and sport on weekends. I also enjoy catching up with
friends and reading novels.

How do you like your coffee?
Cappuccino with one sugar.

What makes your day?
At work when I feel I’ve helped people, and going home to a happy, healthy family.

If you could go anywhere in the world on holiday where would it be?
I would love to take my family to Disneyland in the US, but that is probably a long way off though.

Our Bloke – Ned Hamilton

Ned Hamilton

Ned Hamilton

How long have you lived in Forbes? I have been living in and out of Forbes for the past 14 years.

Where do you work? Ian Simpson & Co.

What do you enjoy most about your job? I love keeping in touch with agriculture and rural regions. I also enjoy it being a peoples job and not riddled with bureaucracy.

What do you do in your spare time?
The aviation industry is a big favourite of mine. I find flying a great release and take every opportunity I get to add to my 700 hours I have on my current Cessna plane.

How do you like your coffee? Flat white in a cup, not too hot and lots of it.

What makes your day? Positive people whose glass is half full. On a professional level seeing a buyer and seller both happy with the outcome.

If you could go on holiday anywhere in the world where would you go? Me, my airplane and anyone who wants to come to central Australia. You see what an amazing country we live in from up there: Lake Eyre, Uluru and the intricate inland river system are my favourites.

Question of the Week?

July 7, 2016 by Maggi Barnard

What do you think of the election’s inconclusive result at the moment?

Jodie Dunn

Jodie Dunn: I think it’s exciting as I dislike the Coalition. The situation at the moment is giving the Coalition a run for their money.

Anita Pout

Anita Pout: I guess either way the politicians are not going to do what they promised. Whatever the result, it is not going to change anything really.

Talesha Dunn

Talesha Dunn: I voted, but I felt very confused who to vote for. I think we need a Barack Obama personality in Australia to make us all happy.
