What is a favourite childhood memory of yours? Celebrating Divali, the Indian Festival of lights, with my family by setting off fireworks.

If you could live in any time or place, where and when would that be? I would be right here, right now.

If you could share a meal with any three people, past or present, who would they be? My mum, dad and sister, they live in India and I don’t often get to see them.

What was you first job? I was a receptionist in Sri Lanka at a clothing company.

If money were no object, what would you do with your time? I’d definitely go to Paris and England. I want to go and see the sights and eat good food.

How long have you lived in or around Forbes and what do you like about living here? I’ve been here for five years next month; I like that Forbes is a quiet little town with friendly people.

What was your first job? Butcher, I’ve been a butcher for most of my life.

What makes you laugh the most? Oh gee, hearing a good joke, or a dirty joke.

If money were no object, what would you do with your time? I think I’d party hard.

Describe your dream holiday? Sitting back on the beach in Hawaii, drinking out of a coconut with an umbrella in it and wearing a pair of Manly footie shorts.

What is a favourite childhood memory of yours? Meeting the Manly football team after they won the grand final in 1987.

If you could live in any time or place, where and when would that be? I’d probably go back to Broken Hill in the 1970’s and early 80’s. I did my schooling out there and it’s a good place. I’d also go to Wilcannia where my Pop had a property and I’d swim in the (Darwin) river.

If you could share a meal with any three people, past or present, who would they be? My dad, my uncle and my nan, they’ve all passed, and I miss them.

What does the Seniors Festival mean to you?

February 21, 2020 by Maggi Barnard

Sandra Nicholson: It is a celebration of the third age, where there is more time to take care of yourself.

Cheryl Shirvington: It means we are old, but more importantly, that we are acknowledged. There isn’t a whole lot on for only seniors, we often go unnoticed even though many seniors contribute a lot to the community. Which is why things like the Seniors Festival means a lot. We are so grateful to the Council for supporting Forbes seniors and activities such as Tai Chi for the health and wellbeing of Forbes residents, young and old.

Alison Baker: Opportunities and friendships. The community of Forbes is wonderful, we are very lucky to live here and be part of this.

What do you look forward to, in growing older?

February 14, 2020 by Maggi Barnard

Donna Cain: More downtime, hopefully.

Maree Yapp: Working less in a paid role and do- ing more with volunteer organisations.

Lucy Pearce: The opportunity to spend more time volunteering in the community.
