DOMINO EFFECT: The goodwill and outstanding local contributions within the Parkes and Forbes community by Dominos from Take Back The Park and Feed The Knead through to Street Of The Week and supporting local schools has been incredible.

LAKESIDE CRUISING: Forbes new transport service “Cycling Without Age” provides an activity for people who have mobility problems to enjoy fresh air and have an outing. The trishaw is piloted by a trained rider .

 

HOLIDAY FUN: Forbes District Soccer held a clinic last week for kids keen on learning more about the world game.

Celebrating Youth Week

Forbes will celebrate what’s great about our amazing young people with a series of events planned to bring the whole community together to celebrate Youth Week. Celebrations will be held across Australia and in Forbes the festival begins on Friday April 16 with Obstacool in Lions Park.

This year’s Youth Week celebrations wraps up with a Super Mega Fun Day on 24 April with a concert featuring local performers. This event has fun for all ages with a mechanical bull, climbing rock wall and a bungee run. Awards will be presented for; Youth Citizen of the Year, Sports Volunteer and Brighter Future Awards.

• Obstacool: On Friday 10am – 2 pm 16th April 2021, Lions Park will be the place to be. The inflatable course includes wedges, inflatable tyre run plus our feature attraction, Big Bopper!
• Sweet Three Movie night: On Saturday 17th April 2021 between 6pm – 8pm an outdoor movie screening will be held at Lions Park.
• Pedal Boats: On Saturday 17th April 2021 there will be four-pedal boats at Lions Park from 10am – 2pm.
• Movie Night: On Friday 23rd April between 6pm – 9pm Forbes Shire Council will be holding an outdoor movie night featuring the comedy “The Heat”.
• Super Mega Fun Day: To complete the celebrations a Youth Concert will be held at Lions Park on Saturday 24th April 2021 10am – 2pm. The park will be filled with entertainment such as rock climbing walls, mechanical bull, bungee run, paddleboats, giant games and food vans.
• 2021 Youth Awards: The announcement of the official Youth Week Awards will also take place during the day.

CLIMBING TO THE TOP: The RockWall is expected to be a big feature during Youth Week celebrations.

OUR GAL: Danni Lippiatt-Byrne has only lived in Forbes for about 12 months after growing up in Western Australia.

How long have you lived in Forbes? I wasn’t born here and have lived in Forbes for only a year so far and am really enjoying it.

What was your first job? My first job was as a customer service cashier at Red Rooster growing up and now I work at Acheson’s Mitre 10 in Forbes.

What makes you laugh the most? Anytime that laughing is inappropriate. I always laugh when I shouldn’t.

If money were no object what would you do with your time? Definitely travel more. I love to travel when and where I can. It’s great.

Describe your dream holiday? Backpacking around Europe for sure. It is certainly the dream holiday. Even more so now that no one is able to travel at the moment overseas.

What’s your favourite childhood memory? My mum’s apricot chicken – amazing!

If you could live in any time or place where would it be and when? Here and Now. Being in the present.

If you could share a meal with three people past or present who would it be? My family in Perth. It would be great – I love them.

If you could have one super-power at all what would it be? I have always been fascinated with and interested in time travel so I would have to say time travel would be my preferred superpower.

Can you describe what your pet hate is? Being nominated to do these things of course!

How long have you lived in or has it been since you moved to Forbes? I have lived my whole life here in Forbes. Forbes is home.

What was your first job and what do you do now? Bernardi’s IGA packing veggies though now I run my own business Adam Molloy Carpentry.

What makes you laugh the most? My kids a lot of the time. They are funny.

If money were no object what would you do with your time? Permanent holiday of course. It would be great as you would never have to stay in the same place twice.

Describe your dream holiday? I would love to travel Australia. So many places to see and things to do.

What’s your favourite childhood memory? I loved camping and fishing throughout my childhood and still do. I still go out camping and fishing any chance I get.

If you could live in any time or place where would it be and when? Definitely the 1980s. Good music and great cars. I was also a 1980s baby.

If you could share a meal with three people past or present who would it be? Billy Connolly, Chuck Lidell and Geoff Toovey. Would be an interesting dinner if I could get a word in.

If you could have one superpower what would it be? I’d love to be able to teleport. Any parent knows this is the one skill we all need.

What’s your pet hate? I hate liars. Can’t stand them. You never ever know where you stand with a liar or what they’ve lied to you about.

What was your first job? My first job was out at the all-nighter on the West Wyalong road.

What makes you laugh the most? Family and Friends having a good time.

If money were no object what would you do with your time? I love to travel.

Describe your dream holiday? I would love to go to Las Vegas.

What’s your favourite childhood memory? I have a heap hanging out with my cousin Tracey we were always up to something.

If you could live in any time or place where would it be and when? Right now is good time for me as I have my granddaughter.

If you could share a meal with three people past or present who would it be? My Dad, Jimmy Barnes, Luke Combs.

If you could have one superpower what would it be? Invisibility – that would be interesting.

What’s your pet hate? Rude people it costs nothing to be nice.

How long have you been in or lived in Forbes? On and off my whole life. I was born here.

Out of everything, what makes you laugh the most? Good comedy movies especially Adam Sandler. His movies are great and really crack me up.

What do you do for a living? I am a Bogan entrepreneur and running an online page called Bogan’s World on Facebook where we profile everything bogan.

If money were no object, what would you do with your time and money? Buy a paddle steamer and float down the Murray River of course. Why not?

Describe to us what is your dream holiday? Amsterdam in the Netherlands – it would be amazing. Rich in history and diversity and very laid back over there.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in your life? Be humble. Still the best advice I ever received to this day.

If you could live in any time or place where would it be? The 1980s. Exciting time. It was right at a time when we were on the cusp of big technological advances and developments in society. Would’ve been awesome I think.

If you could have dinner with anyone past or present who would it be? Eric Bana as he is one of my favourite Aussie comics from his Poita days, Charlie Manson and Greg Norman – The Great White Shark. He was phenomenal and I always liked watching him play.

If you could have a superpower what would it be? X-ray vision.

What is your pet hate? Rude people. There’s no need for it. Be kind to people and treat them as you want to be treated. It’s that simple.
