Be Seen @forbes Country Music Club

October 10, 2024 by Roxane Manley

The final muster for Forbes Country Music Club Incorporated was held Sunday 6th October at Club Forbes, it was a very sad day we were left with many great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Our band on the day consisted of Brett Petty, Wade Dixon, Neville Lye (on drums as Jim Hodder was unavailable), John McCluckie (on bass as Pam Byrne is still unwell), Ray Watts, Dave Parkin and Keith Noakes.

Those in attendance were asked to sign the Forbes Country Music Club banner which will be donated to the Forbes Museum so that the Forbes Country Music Club history will live on. Included photos are courtesy of Wendy Dixon.

Be Seen @St Laurence’s Parish School Forbes

Last Friday’s Colour Run was a blast. We loved seeing everyone covered in vibrant colours and smiles from ear to ear.

It’s always wonderful to bring the community together, and this event couldn’t have been a success without the incredible support from our local heroes.

Here’s to a fabulous end of Term 3 and a bright start to Term 4.

Thanks to the equine and music stars, the 2024 Parkes Carnival Of Cups was a massive success.

Great tunes from The Living End, Shannon Noll, Sara Berki, Robbie Mortimer and Michael Green.

The amazing night that saw a record crowd at the Parkes Harness Racing Club. Thanks to all involved.

Well done to the Alphas who won the Amazing Race with first time teacher Mr Fredericks driving them around town and getting in the spirit.

All the teams were fantastic, and the Year 11s and staff put on a wonderful dinner afterwards.

A big thank you to everyone who was involved, it was a really fun afternoon and evening.

Be Seen @ Red Bend Catholic College

It is the last week of secondary schooling for RBCC Year 12 students.

They were farewelled by their PC groups in emotional tributes.

This is a group of kids that will definitely be missed.

Be Seen @ AORC With Dylan Mcdonald

September 19, 2024 by Roxane Manley

15yr old Parkes boy Dylan Mcdonald finished 3rd on the podium at the final Round of the Australian Off Road Championships on this weekend at Nowra.

A few mechanical set backs at the previous round cost Dylan the points lead. Even after being hospitalised due to a training accident, he came out and raced, taking 3rd and 2nd overall on each day.

Not quite the end result that Dylan worked for this year but he will continue to put in the work and to be ready to race in America in a few months time.

September 19, 2024 by Roxane Manley

The Winn Sideris Public Speaking was held on 17th September in our school hall filled with an audience ranging from kindergarten, a class of 3/4, 4/5 and 3 x 5/6 classes.

The topics covered were… embarrassing families, catastrophic events of 2022, police horses and why I prefer staying in, instead of going out. The four participants had to write their speech and speak for 2 minutes or longer.

The winner of this public speaking event was Alani Brunt with the topic Embarrassing Families… Alani will receive her award on presentation night in term four.

Be Seen @ Parkes High Reunion Class Of 1969-1974

September 12, 2024 by Roxane Manley

Old classmates enjoyed reconnecting over the weekend of 6, 7 and 8 September, some not having seen each other since school days, while others had attended past class reunions.

There was a meet and greet at Cambridge on Friday night, lunch at the Coachman on Saturday and dinner at the Hong Loch on Saturday night. We laughed as we shared old school memories, and listened with interest to each other’s stories of where their life had led them.

Some of us had been at school together from Kindergarten onwards. But no matter how long our years together were, there was a sense of gratitude for those years spent together as we were growing up and that had played a part in our formation as adults.

The event ended with coffee in Cooke Park on Sunday morning for those who were still in town. Others, had made an early start to return home; home being as far away as Queensland, Broken Hill, different parts of Sydney, up Newcastle way, and down Wollongong way, Canberra and Orange, and anywhere in between.
