With the cooler weather starting time is now at 9.30am with arrival by 9.15am.

AUSSIE CROQUET

Saturday morning was cloudy and cold but 25 players had an enjoyable time. Three players won three games: Geoff Coles, N. Jolliffe and P. West. Close games were:

• P. West and F. Picker 14, P. Moran andK.Rubie13,

• M. Spry and N. Jolliffe 14, A. Todd and P.Moran 13.

• B. Fields and J. Farah 14, J. Browne andM.Jones 13.

• G. Coles (2 balls) 14, L. Todd and F. Picker 12,

• K. Rubie and P. West 14, C. Nielson andJ.Littlejohn 12

GOLF CROQUET

Tuesday morning greeted us with a big white frost, then the sun came up and gave us a perfect sunny day for croquet. 35 players enjoyed the morning friendship and hitting the balls through the hoops. Six players won three games: J. Browne, J. Cole, G, Coles, M. Langfield. F. Picker & N. Spry. The big winners were:

• K. Rubie (2 Balls) 11-2

• J. Cole and P. West 10-3

• E. Quirk and P. West 10-3

• N. Spry and M. Langfield 9-4

• G. Coles and M. Smith 9-4.

There were 28 players on a lovely sunny morning for Aussie Croquet. The day was our first day starting on our winter time table.

Five players won three games, including F. Picker, A. Jones, G. Coles. R. Burridge and J. Browne. 

The big winners on the day were: 

• N Spry and S Hepburn 14, D Rodgers and E Hunt 8

• D Scott and J. Littlejohn 14, H Stewart 9.

A total of 35 players enjoyed a beautiful autumn morning at Golf Croquet. There were seven Players who won three games, including Geoff Coles, Irene Ford, John Farah, Noel Jolliffe, Elvy Quirk, Kevin Ruby and M. Spry. 

The big winners on the day were: 

• J Browne and B Scott 10, D Scott and L Todd 3, 

• R Toole and M Smith 10, M Jones and P Moran 3, 

• P Moran, and J Cole 10, A Jones and B Field 3, 

• M and N Spry 9, M and A Jones 4, 

• L Liebich and M. Smith 9, C Nielson and S Chamberlain 4, 

• N Spry and I Ford 9, M Langfield and L Todd 4. 

If you would like to play croquet, please arrive by 9:15am to put your name in so play can start at 9:30am.

It was as very pleasant morning for Aussie Croquet on Saturday 6th May, for 23 players. There were six players who won three games, Bill Scott, Merv Langfield, John Job, John Cole, Sandy Hepburn

and Colleen Liebich. The big winners on the day were:

• 14 – 8 Bill Scott and John Cole, Colleen Liebich and Ray Burridge

• 14 – 10 John Job , Colleen Liebich and Bill Scott, Harlety Stewart and Alex Todd, Coleen Liebich and John Farah, Alex Todd and John Job, John Farah and Merv Langfield.

The morning started of very miserable and cold on Tuesday 9th but it brightened up as the morning went on, we had 30 players turn up for Golf Croquet. Only 2two players won three games, Neville Spry and Noel Jolliffe. The big winners on the day were:

• 11 – 2 John Job and Bill Scott, Ray Martin and Mal Smith

• 9 – 4 Iren Ford and John Cole, Sandy Hepburb, Lyal Strudwick and Fay Picker

Rain was the winner for Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 29th April. We had 32 players for Golf Croquet on Tuesday, 2nd May. There were four winners of three games. Noel Jolliffe, Iren Ford, Ray Burridge and a visitor from the mid-north coast Gaylin Humphries. 

Big winners on the day were: 

• 10 – 3 Ray Burridge and Evelyn Mahlo, Neville Spry and John Farah 

• 9 – 4 Bruce Field and Sue Jolliffe, John Browne and Noel Jolliffe, Noel Jolliffe, Iren Ford and Phillip Moran 

After our game we had our monthly luncheon at the Post Office Hotel to celebrate four birthdays. That’s it till next week

We had 35 players for Aussie Croquet on a very pleasant morning on Saturday, 22nd April. There were five players who managed to win three games: John Cole, Lyn Simmonds, Kevin Rubie, Rex Toole and Cheryle Toohey. The big winners on the day were:

• 14 – 7 Neville Spry and Barry White.

• 14 – 9 Sandy Hepburn and Kevin Rubie, John Browne and Ros Rennick.

• 14 – 10 Harley Stewart and Kevin Rubie, John Cole and Bill Scott, Harley Stewart and Neville Spry, Dorelle Scott and Kevin Rubie , Lorraine Todd and Cheryle Toohey.

We now have in excess of 60 members, which we are so proud to say in our small country town. With eight courts, we certainly cater for all. 

Our social get together and luncheon is to be held at the Post Office hotel on 2nd May and hopefully everyone who wishes to attend has placed their name and chosen their meal on the sheet provided. 

Those celebrating their birthdays during May are John Browne (a special birthday), John Cole, Peter Mahlo, Carmel Murray, Elvy Quirk, Harley Stewart and Peter West.

There was no croquet on Tuesday, 25th April as we honoured our ANZAC’s.

We had 24 brave players for Aussie Croquet on a very misty, windy morning on Saturday 8th April. Thank goodness the morning improved. We had a family affair, Robin Pols turned up with her daughter Catrina and granddaughter Olivia.

Four players won three games, John Browne, Kevin Rubie, Barry White and Tony Thomson. The big winners were:

14 – 8 May Jones and Kevin Rubie, TonyThomson and Barry White.

14 – 9 Joan Littlejohn and Tony Thomson

A chilly morning on Tuesday 11th saw 30players for Golf Croquet. There were threewinnes of three games, Fay Picker, KevinRubie and Rex Toole.The big winners were:

9 – 4 Elvy Quirk and Bruce Field, Neville Spry and Rex Toole, Kevin Rubieand Sandy Hepburn, Lyn Simmonds andJohn Cole, John Farah and Rex Toole,John Browne and Kevin Rubie, John Farah and Fay Picker.

Anzac Day is almost upon us and of course that will be a holiday for all our croquet players as we pause to remember those who served our beautiful country with survivors but many lost lives. Meanwhile stay well, stay safe and be kind to each other.

One of the more senior coquet players, Robin Pols hosted the Garden Club meeting this week. Robin is pictured with a beautiful flower from her Wheel tree.

There was beautiful rain this week, hopefully it keeps coming. It was a welcome reprieve for our boys from the watering, our croquet lawns look almost picture perfect.

There were 32 players for Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 25th March. Five players managed to win three games, John Browne, John Farah, Lyn Simmonds and Fay Picker.

Big winers on the day were: 14 – 8 John Farah and John Job, Neville Spry and Alex Todd; 14 – 9 John Browne and Carolyn Neilsen, John Farah and John Job, Kevin Rubie and Lorraine Todd. 

There were 28 players on Tuesday, 28th turn up keen to start. Then the rain came, so it ended up being the winner.

There were 30 players for Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 18th March. Four players won three games: Noel Jolliffe, John Cole, Kevin Rubie and Peter West.

The big winners on the day were 14 – 8 John Browne, 14 – 9 John Cole and Ros Rennick, 14 – 10 Elvy Quirk and John Cole, Noel Jolliffe.

There were 36 players for Golf Croquet on Tuesday, 21st March.Two players managed to win three games: John Cole and Noel Jolliffe. The big winners were 10 – 3 Elvy Quirk and John Browne, Sue and Noel Jolliffe, 9 -4 John Farah and Vince Roberts, John Farah and Allan Jones.
