Forbes Phoenix

Our Gal -Kristen Woods

October 18, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes my whole life and think it’s a beautiful town with great people! I love the community spirit.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I work as a dance teacher at my studio, Kristen’s Dance Studio. I enjoy all of the wonderful students I have the privilege of teaching and watch grow.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I enjoy taking the dogs for a walk around the lake or going water skiing when the warmer weather gets here!

What are you really good at? I am really good at losing my voice!

If you could have a super power, what would it be? To time travel… or to stop time. Time goes too fast!

What is your pet hate? People littering.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. A stand out would be travelling to America for Coachella this year and seeing Beyoncé perform… amazing!

Question of the week -There are now 25 hours in a day. How do you spend your extra hour?

October 11, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Sophie Clifton: I would definitely catch up on some sleep.

Brielle Thornton: I think I’d spend the extra hour eating more food.

Dan Martin: I’d probably have another beer.

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes for three years. I like Forbes because the people are so friendly and I love the Lachlan River.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I’m semi-retired. I do a lot of voluntary work just to help the community out.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I hang around our little farm, or go bush walking or climbing the hills.

What are you really good at? Fishing and kayaking.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? Probably go back in time and fix some of the problems that would allow us to live in a better place today.

What is your pet hate? Bullying and backstabbing.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. My honeymoon 15 years ago at Forster.

How long have you lived in Forbes and what do you like about living here? I have lived in Forbes for 20 years. I like Forbes because it is such a friendly community with everything you need.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about your work? I work on my family’s dairy farm and I am a Young Dairy Network Coordinator for Dairy NSW. I enjoy working with cows and the diversity and beauty of farm life.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends? I procrastinate on university work and catch up with mates.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? I’d love to be able to talk to animals! To know what the cows were thinking would be very handy sometimes.

Tell us about your best holiday ever. When I was in primary school my family went around Australia for four weeks. We visited the red dirt rather than the beach and had a blast.

QUESTION of the week -What do you do to stay healthy?

September 20, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

Lara Tulaga: Staying healthy for me means living a balanced lifestyle. Work, family, diet, exercise, enjoyments, love, friends, family and life experiences!

Vicki Dick: I stay healthy by using food as medicine. Our bodies thrive on whole foods and become less so on processed food. Also lots of sun, filtered water, good friends and family.

Giselle Taunton: To stay healthy I live an active life! I love to run, swim, kayak, adventure and most importantly laugh!
