How long have you lived in or around Forbes? Well later this year it will be seventy years in the Lachlan Valley but only thirty years in good old Forbes.

What do you enjoy about living in Forbes? I have been to places all over the country and a little over seas. Yes we have the best country in the world and Forbes is one of the best. The people are friendly and there is plenty to do. The climate is great. Can you think of any other town with a beautiful walking/bike track ten kilometres around a lake in the centre of town?

What do you/did you do for work? I worked in a little furniture business for forty one years. Our customers were so nice it was a pleasure to come to work.

What do you do in your spare time/as a hobby? Spare time is a luxury but after the gardening and working at Vinnies I do find a game of bowls lots of fun. I invite anyone interested to try out for bowls any Wednesday at 1pm

What would be your dream holiday? Just a little trip with Sandra in the caravan. It is a big country and there is so much still to see.

Are you looking forward to school going back?

SANY0294

Carmen Jelbart: I have had a couple of mini trips away with my children – Canberra for general site seeing, the movies and shopping – Jamberoo Action Park we had perfect weather, loved all the rides and thought I was a kid again. Yes, in a way, I am looking forward to school going back so that I can get back into a routine but will miss the
freedom of not having to be in a specific place at a specific time.

SANY0292

Toby Hurford & Talis Hurford: We went to the Central Coast – boogie boarding and fishing were the big highlights. Undercooked steaks cooked by our brother, Corey’s girlfriend was not the best but she tried. I (Toby Yr 9) am not really looking forward to school, would much rather stay at home and do what I want with no homework especially History. Talis is going into Year 6 and is looking forward to catching up with his friends at school next week.
Tom Toohey: I had a great time in the holidays, 9 days at Manly and went to the Big Bash Cricket matches. I can’t wait to get back to school next week, I am going into Year 9 and am looking forward to doing my elective classes.

What do you do in your spare time? I used to be a builder by trade. I actually worked in four different trades, but I do enjoy fixing things. I’m still a handy man.

What makes your day? I would say helping people. It’s always a nice thing to do, and it’s what I like to do.

Amanda Edmonds

Amanda Edmonds – Took a refreshing dip in the river whilst fishing with the family on the Lachlan River after work.
