Be Seen @ Forbes High School Horticulture Program

It was a brilliant start to the YES Horticulture Program with Ms Matthews from Orange TAFE.

 


Students gained valuable insights into seed germination, seasonal planting, and the intricacies of growing from seeds.

 


Students potted snow peas, sweet peas, broad beans, and native grasses. There are four weeks remaining of this great program.

Last Wednesday at Parkes Public School we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime at Parkes Public School.

 


Classes tuned in to hear the book being read by the author, Deborah Frenkel, along with over 2 million people across Australia and New Zealand.

 


This year marked the 25th Anniversary of NSS and students participated in activities in the library and their classrooms to mark the event.

On Sorry Day we acknowledged a significant occasion to reflect on the impact of the past and promote healing and reconciliation within our community.

 


We honoured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through engaging activities centred around Aboriginal literature.

 


Students also attended Forbes High School and St Lau­rence’s Parish School for their Sorry Day events.

Be Seen @ Parkes Christian School

Year 9 and 10 Geography students from Parkes Christan School enjoyed a day at the Zoo. Students participated in two workshops: Environmental Change and Management and Zoo Nature Journal.

 


They even had the opportunity to interact with some of the animals from a snake, shingleback, ring tailed possum, and a green frog.

During the last week of term Parkes High School held thier annual Cross Country.

 


The students participated on a new course this year and they all had a great time.

It was another big weekend of footy for the Platypi! Our teams showed grit, heart, and teamwork across all grades.

 


Check out the snaps from Saturday’s games – thank you to our players, coaches, supporters, and volunteers for another great round.

 


This coming Saturday, 10 May the Platypi Travel to Bathurst to take on last year’s 2024 Blowes Cup Grand Final winners Bathurst Bulldogs.

Parkes Services Squash Courts had a blast hosting a Squash NSW Regional Pathway Camp.

 

Kids from Dubbo, Forbes and Cowra Squash Clubs joined in with the locals for a great day of squash.

 

The camp had national, state and regional players, as well as kids trying squash for the first time – well done!
