Lachlan Regional Orchestra Schools Tour Started

The Lachlan Regional Orchestra have started their second annual primary schools tour through the Forbes Shire on Thursday and will conclude on Monday, 17th September.

This community orchestra has been granted funding by CMOC-Northparkes Mines and Forbes Shire Council to engage with local schools through an interactive educational tour. In all, the orchestra will be performing for six schools over the two separate days, reaching nearly 1,000 students and staff.

Each performance is scheduled at 50 minutes and focuses on educating primary aged children about music appreciation and a variety of instruments. Students are offered insights into the inner workings of an orchestra through these entertaining and interactive performances.

The orchestra’s tour started at Bedgerebong Public School and Forbes North Public School on Thursday. St Joseph’s Catholic School, Eugowra Public School, St Lawrence’s Catholic School and Forbes Public School will see the orchestra on Monday.

The community based orchestra is an initiative of the Mitchell Conservatorium. It brings together more than 20 members from across the Parkes and Forbes Shires, ranging in age from 8 years to 80 years.

For local musicians keen to experience a community based music group, now is The Lachlan Regional Orchestra will be performing at various primary schools across the Forbes Shire during their tour. an excellent time to give it a try! A combined music event is being prepared for the 3rd and 4th of November. Participants will join together for a weekend of musical workshops followed by a combined performance in Parkes. It is an event made possible through the generosity of Parkes Shire Council.
