Two highly worthy organisations have been nominated for this year’s Forbes Heritage Medal to be presented at the annual Forbes Heritage Awards Evening on Tuesday, 2nd May.
Forbes Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM has revealed that the volunteer bodies of the Forbes Museum and Forbes Family History Group have been nominated for the 2023 medal. “The volunteers of both groups are extremely worthy,” Mayor Miller said.
“These dedicated residents have gone above and beyond in ensuring that our history is preserved, even during times of extreme flooding, in bringing our stories to the national limelight, and undertaking major research projects,” she said.
Each year the awards evening is held in conjunction with Heritage Week to recognise the conservation and promotion of the heritage of Forbes and its surrounding districts.
This years winners will join the historical ‘hall of fame’ members such as Forbes and District Historical Society, Forbes Returned Services League, and the Walker Family.
