Time To Come And Try Dragon Boat Paddling

August 16, 2018 by Maggi Barnard

The Forbes Dragon Boat club begin their new season this Sunday, 19th August at 8:15am on Lake Forbes. Dragon Boat paddling is a great way to meet new people and have fun, while enjoying our beautiful lake.

Anyone wanting to come and have a go at paddling is welcome to join in. Bring a friend or come on your own, you will be very welcome. Whether it’s just a recreational paddle, simple fitness or you want to compete in regattas during the season, join us for a fun morning on Sunday or any time during the season.

We meet at the Dragon Boat shed behind the Forbes Sport and Recreation Club in Lachlan Street on Sunday mornings at 8:15am for a warm up, before hitting the water at 8:30am and finishing at 9:30am. During daylight saving, we also paddle on Thursday evenings from 6pm till 7pm.

Wear warm clothing that is flexible so that your arms can move and footwear with closed toes (either joggers or water shoes, no thongs). This is a water sport so shoes may get wet! Bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses and willingness to have a go.

Beginners can have three ‘come-and-try’ sessions, which cost $5 each to cover insurance. Then, if you decide to become a regular paddler you can join the club for the whole season.

So don’t put it off any longer! Grab a friend or family member and come and give paddling a try. We would love to introduce you to this exciting water sport. Check out our website www.forbesdragonboat.org or our Facebook page for more information.
