Australian Senepol Bull Sale Record: On Monday, 21 September Geoff and Alison Maynard and family, from Five Star Senepol at Jambin, Queensland set a new Australian record selling a Senepol bull for $30,000 at the annual sale at Gracemere Saleyards in Queensland. Lot 3, Five Star 190609 was knocked down for a record $30,000 to CAP Genomics from Brisbane.
Five Star Senepol enjoyed a 100% clearance rate with all 66 lots selling and a new all-time high average of $11,273 on sale day. Clayton and Sarah Maynard from Southern Star Rural, Canowindra, sold 11 bulls through the sale averaging $8,300 with two tops of $11,000 for a Senepol and a Senegus (Senepol/Angus) Bull. Spring Photo Competition: It is that time of year again. The Forbes Phoenix is running its annual Spring Photo Competition, and we are looking for your best and brightest spring snaps taken in and around beautiful Forbes. This year, Sarah Hodge from Essjay Photography is sponsoring the competition. Sarah’s clients are treated as friends, making sessions laid back enough to capture authentic and unique moments. Essjay Photography is located in Forbes and has been operating for over ten years and the business is ever expanding, offering family, wedding, business and personal photography. Winners of the Spring Photo Competition will win a $200 voucher from Essjay Photography. Submissions can be made on the Forbes Phoenix Facebook page, or emailed to sales@forbesphoenix.com.au. Entries are being accepted until the end of October 2020.
Christmas Carnival Cancelled: For a number of years, the Forbes Business Chamber, in conjunction with Forbes Shire Council, have hosted the Find It In AMAZING Forbes Christmas Carnival which has grown into one of Forbes’ premier community events. After a recent committee meeting, it was decided that the Forbes Christmas Carnival will not go ahead in its usual format for 2020. The Committee are currently working on a new concept that will see a series of smaller events delivered to the community. These events will be located throughout Forbes and will encourage every participant to enjoy themselves in a COVID safe way. The Committee would like to thank stall holders, volunteers, shop and business owners and visitors for their support.
