Maher Better Than Par In Fine Show

April 23, 2021 By Maggi Barnard

PULLING THE TRIGGER: Tony Cogswell unleashes off the tee in the Kristie Carpenter Perpetual Trophy Day at Forbes Golf Club.

On Saturday the annual Kristie Carpenter Perpetual Trophy Day, sponsored by Terry Griffiths and Veronica Rebellato, was played. A field of 103 players, comprising 92 men and 11 Ladies returned some very good scores.

The Overall Winner for the Trophy was Phil Maher, with an inspired 45 points. The runner-up was Paul Pymont (39).

The Division 2 results saw Jake Shaw on 43 points. Runnerup with 39 points was Riley Pike. The Ladies had a good tussle for their honours, with Sally Crosby getting past Lindy Pollock on count back.

On Sunday a different format was played – a 3-Person Ambrose Medley. A field comprising 39 players produced some very low scores.

The winning group of Kyle Sharp, Jake Fleming and Isaac Vale combined really well to score 59 1/6 nett.

The Draw for the Wallace Cup Match Play championship has been posted on the Pro Shop Notice Board, so get those matches underway.

The course will be busy next week with the Forbes Vets ‘Week of Golf’. They are all early starts so social golf is best had in the afternoon.

The Ladies (2 May) and Mens (16 May) Forbes Opens follow close after that. A reminder to the Men of the “Three Opens Champion”, played over the Forbes, West Wyalong and Condobolin Opens.

A Demo Day is organised for Mizuno Equipment Day scheduled for 13 May. These are very fine clubs, so if interested contact Adam – 0433 485 846.

Saturday, 24 April is a Stroke event, sponsored by LINX group. Sunday has a Stableford Medley, and is a Welcome Day for the Vets ‘Week of Golf’.
