Lachlan PSSA Cross Country Held In Forbes

April 30, 2021 By Maggi Barnard

OFF AND RACING: Students from across the region converged on Forbes this week for the Lachlan PSSA Cross Country trials.

This week the Lachlan PSSA Cross Country were held at Forbes Racecourse with a strong turn-out of students from across the region from many centres and towns including Dubbo, Cowra and Eugowra.

Winners on the day were guaranteed a spot in the Western Trials on Wednesday June 9 at Geurie with the top 6 making it through. From there the winners proceed to the State PSSA titles on July 16 to battle it out against the top junior distance runners in the state.

Forbes turned on beautiful weather and the action track side was just as spectacular with some tight and intriguing racing throughout the day to keep the large crowd entertained in one of the first PSSA events since COVID.

Participants arrived at 10:30am for a walk through before the main action began at 11:15am with the Under 12/13 years boys over 3000 metres closely followed by the Under 8/9 years girls 2km run.

Fresh from the recent State titles at Homebush, Forbes was well represented with many local hopes in the field including Brock Maynard who has enjoyed previous success at the same meet previously. The trials finished with the Under 10 years girls at 12:30pm before official presentations and formalities.

A big congratulations to all participants and we can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Thanks again to all the local volunteers and families who also made this happen. Your support helped make the day a raging success and we could not have done it without you!
