Happy Days In Medal Comp

October 12, 2017 by Maggi Barnard

The Monthly Medal, sponsored by Forbes Concrete, was held last Saturday. The field of 67 players produced good low scores.

The A-Grade was won by Alf Leslie, with perhaps his best game of the year. His 67 Nett was one better than John Betland’s 68, off a 66 Scratch score. The B-Grade required a count back with Jeff Haley sneaking past Peter Grayson after both finished on 69 Nett.

The C-Grade also scored ‘under par’. Bruce Chandler won with 69 Nett, ahead of Rod Besgrove on 70 Nett. The ball sweep went to 73 nett on count back, going to: 67 – A Davies; 68 – J Betland; 69 – J Haley, P Grayson, B Chandler; 70 – M Collits, R Besgrove, T Griffiths, A Tucker; 72 – D Culley, S French; 73 – J Zannes, S McAlister, L O’Connor, D Bayley, D McAuliffe and P Cowhan.

The NTP’s went to: 9th – S Kirkman; 18th – B Everest. There were only seven, 2’s with King Betland scoring 2’s on the 1st and the 18th.

There was no Sunday Stableford Medley due to the welcoming rain.

It is with sadness that we record the passing of Bob Doolin. Bob and his wife Daine were very strong supporters of the Golf Club many years back. Bob has continued their memories by sponsoring the ‘Daine Doolin Memorial’ day.

The Summer Sixes competition started this week. There is still room to register more teams or individuals. Contact Simon at the Pro Shop on 6851 1554.

The Nissan Classic arrangements are going well. The Tee Times list is now in the Pro Shop, please put your name down as soon as possible.

Rounds one and two of the Club Champs are on the 14th and 15th of October. There will be no Stableford Medley on Sunday.
