Forbes Golfers Enjoy The Weekend

Winners of the 2024 Scramble Harry Quirk, Todd Callaghan, Reggie Murray and Steve Quirk with Head Pro Will.

On Saturday, 31st August, the Men’s golf competition was a 4BBB Medley Stabl­eford sponsored by Cahill Footwear. The sunshine encouraged 70 players to come along and participate, with the sponsor Marty Cahill making an appearance after winter.

The Men’s winning pair of Archie Quirk and Wayne O’Niell streaked away from the field with their 50 points. The runners-up were Anthony and Lachlan Alley who could only muster 46 points.

A Ladies team comprising Linda Cowhan and Ann-Maree Gaffney, with 42 points, led the Ladies surge.

An individual Stableford event was held in conjunction with the teams event. The winner of that was Archie Quirk with his 46 points. He undoubtedly will suffer at the hands of the Handicapping system.

The NTP’s were: 9th Men: L Flakelar, La­dies: S Black; 18th Men: S French, Ladies:

C Venables. The Pro Shop Superpin, went to Luke Flakelar who finished well inside the next best.

The ball sweep went to 43 points so check in the Pro Shop. There were three visitors. The Annual PGA Scramble was held on Sunday, with 17 teams (4 players) in the field, including some from Grenfell, Young, Dubbo and Trundle.

Locals dominated the prizes with the team of Harry and David Quirk, Reggie Murray and Todd Callaghan winning with a score of 56 5/8. Runners-up on 57 ½ were Steve Betland, Troy Howe, Randall Gray­son and Josh Coulthurst. Third place went to Jake Thompson, Blake Parker, Zac Yeo­mans and Phar Nicholson with 59 5/8.

Gunn Golf sponsored the NTP’s, with re­cipients being: Men 1st Stuart French, La­dies 9th Sally Crosby and ‘All in’ 18th Ray White.

Next weekend is September Monthly Medal sponsored by McFeeter’s Motor Mu­seum. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a great day of golf.
