Locals Claim Pairs

Forbes locals Lindsay and Lyn Willding have claimed the annual Forbes Mixed Pairs Bowls tournament at the Forbes Bowling Club sponsored by Beaumont Tiles Dubbo.

Despite the spectre of COVID, 32 pairs of bowlers from the Central West region, attended marking a great day for the club as local bowlers also scooped up other prizes throughout the day! Well done to all the winners and all who volunteered!

Golden Eagles Dark Horses For League Title

With wins over Grenfell, Peak Hill and Cargo, the Eugowra Golden Eagles were brave in their 18-10 loss to second place Manildra Rhinos last weekend in Eugowra.

Despite the loss, Eugowra sit in fifth in the Woodbridge Cup in what is a blue-chip year for the club on 13 points behind Molong Bulls on 14 in fourth then a trio of teams out in front including Canowindra (25), Ma-nildra (23) and Trundle (21). Eugowra and Molong do have a bye owing with Eugowra having a weekend off this weekend but other immediate contenders for the finals below them on the ladder Peak Hill (12) and Cargo (10) also have a scheduled bye weekend approaching.

Eugowra will tackle Condo after the bye before a season-defining home game awaits against Molong in three weeks.

Magpies Plucked By Tigers

At the start of the season both sides fought out a gallant draw but this time it would be different when the Forbes Magpies took on the Nyngan Tigers. In a game that was largely one way traffic, an under-manned Magpies side fought hard but inevitably lost 34-10.

Forbes is running out of time if they have ambitions of playing finals football.
