Croquet News And Results From The Field

Croquet week ending 10th November

The Melbourne Cup took its toll on numbers for Tuesday’s golf croquet, although there were some close games. The closest game of the day was between Jeff Liebich and John MacCullagh. Jeff Liebich won the game with a score of 11 to 10.

Two of our best players, Bob Murray and Kevin Rubie fought out a close game with Bob Murray winning on the last hoop with a 7 to 6 score.

The winners of their three matches on the day were John Allegri, Bruce Field, Mary Hodges and Joan Littlejohn. Well done to all!

Saturday’s Aussie croquet was again low on numbers due to grandparent members that attended graduation ceremonies to celebrate milestones in their grandchildren’s path to adulthood. Congratulations to you all and your families!

There were some close games on the courts with the closest being between Elizabeth McLean and Joan Littlejohn against Elvy Quirk and Bob Murray. This game had some exciting moments as they tussled at the final peg out. The final score was a nail biting 14 to 13 with Elizabeth and Joan be- Page 12 Friday 16 November 2018 Your free weekly guide to what’s happening in and around Forbes…shop locally first! ing the winners in the end. The winners of three games were John Browne, Joan Littlejohn, Bob Murray and Harley Stewart.

The next birthday lunch is to be held on Tuesday, 13th November and will celebrate our November birthday babies Dorelle and Bill Scott, Bruce Field, Roslyn Rennick and Dorothea Croker.

Planning is underway for the club’s Christmas lunch which is set for the 18th December along with the recognition of the highest scorers for each of the games during the year.
