Croquet News And Results

March 13, 2020 by Maggi Barnard

Golf Croquet Tuesday, 3rd March
Another great rollup for Golf Croquet, with all courts in use. There were three winners of all games John Browne, Kevin Rubie and Geoff Coles. It was great to see Geoff back from his holiday, visiting family in New Zealand, and playing so well.

Twelve games were very close at 7/6 J Liebich and G Coles 10, B White and J Lit- tlejohn 3, B Murray and J Cole 11, J Rubie and M Hodges 2, N Spry 9. E Mahlo Thom- son 4, J Browne 9, B Scott and A Todd 4. All enjoyed the luncheon at the Golf Club to celebrate those who have a birthday in March. Many thanks to the new owners who made club members feel welcome.

Aussie Croquet Saturday, 7th March
Morning games have been wonderful since the rains made it to the courts, they are vibrantly green and while the grass is damp, the balls need to be hit that bit harder. 24 players on the green and there were three winners of all games. Congratulations to John Cole, Robyn Pols and Merv Langfield.

The closest game played was E Quirk and B Scott 14, D Scott and T Thomson 13, C Liebich and G Coles, 14, M Spry and J Allegri 12, J Cole and R Pols 14, S Hepburn and J Littlejohn 12 and finally, C Liebich and J Allegri 14 were lucky to win over J Browne and M Spry 11 as John was playing a very defensive game. Game will commence from 9am from now as the mornings are quite dark for those setting up. Please arrive 10 minutes early so numbers can be organised. By Colleen Liebich
