Summer means cricket season and the Forbes and District Junior Cricket Association are very excited with the support that it has received from the local businesses in town.
The Forbes Services Memorial Club has come on board as the major sponsor for the Junior Competition. Gunn’s Mensland has also thrown its support behind Junior Cricket by sponsoring the U12’s, 14’s and 16’s representative teams with shirts for the season.
The Forbes Phoenix, Sportspower, Bunnings, Matheson Earthmoving, Hazell and Field Accountants, Forbes Livestock, Frank Spice, Bernadis IGA and AWB have all gotten on board as individual team sponsors. Committee members have been working with the Lachlan District development officer Cara Pocock to organise a number of skills clinics at both Forbes North and Saint Laurence’s Primary Schools.
A T20 Blast School Cup has been organised for Tuesday 13 October where all schools are invited to take part and enter teams in the Cricket Carnival for that day. Registrations to date have been very strong but there is still room if your child would like to play Junior Cricket this season in Milo U10’s, U14’s and U17’s. Forbes will be fielding 8 teams in the Forbes/Parkes competition this season and the first junior competition game of cricket will be held on Saturday 10 October.
