Close Finish In Golf

August 1, 2024 by Short Putt

On Saturday 27th August the Forbes Golf Club event was a 4BBB Medley Stableford, sponsored by the Hawke Family.

The scores were better than last week, and required count backs to separate the winners.

The Handicap winners were the pair of Mike Kelly and Simon Martino. Their score of 45 points was a shot ahead of a very bunched group of contenders. Simon contributed well on the front-9 while Mike carried the back-9.

The Runners-up were decided on count back when three teams recorded 44 points.

The nod went to Archie Quirk paired with Jayden Pendleton. Jayden was steady throughout but Archie had a blinder on the back-9.

In a new initiative, a trophy for the best Ladies team was sponsored by Jill Cripps.

This was won by Jenny Fletcher and Deb Tilley with 43 points. They scored points onevery hole but needed to turn some 1’s into 2’s.

The NTP’s were: 9th – Men: Alf Davies, Ladies: K Stirling; 18th – Men: J Cutler, Ladies: B Duncan. The Pro Shop Super-pin, went to Alf Davies whose shot was perfectly executed and finished 95 cm away.

The ball sweep went to 41 points on count back. The visitors came from Trundle and Parkes.

Reminders include the Trundle Open on 3rd and 4th August, the Temora Open on 10th and 11th August, and don’t forget the registration for the PGA Scramble on the 1st September.

This weekend the comp is the August Monthly Medal, sponsored by Bernardis Marketplace. There is the Stableford Medley on Sunday as well as the Trundle Open.

Come along and enjoy.
