Forbes Cattle Sale

Conducted 14/12/2015

There were 1460 yarded. Numbers were down by 33% and despite this the market trend followed sales conducted late last week and prices eased. Yearlings to feed and for slaughter dropped 5 to 8c a kilo and heavy steers over 500 kilos dressed weight were 6 to 7c cheaper. Cows eased by 3 to 4c compared to last week’s sale.

Conducted 08/12/2015

 

Yarded 27282 including 18471 lambs. Lamb numbers increased after several week’s of very low numbers as the harvest was taking priority with producers. There was an increase in the number of prime shorn lambs. The market, as expected, dropped by $4 to $5 for light and trade weights and $6 to $8 for heavy lambs compared to last week’s sale.

There were 2199 yarded. Feeder steers attracted strong competition again and sold at mostly unchanged rates. Slaughter cattle eased by 6 to 10c a kilo and heavy steers were up to 10c cheaper also. Cows fell by 5 to 10c compared to last week’s sale.

Yarded 18433 including 113563 lambs . Lamb numbers remain low and quality is mixed. However the shorn young lambs are in excellent condition and the heavier grades were $4 to $6 dearer. All other lambs were fully firm compared to last week’s sale.

There were 1716 yarded. Quality was good and included good runs of prime grain feeds along with the usual feeder types and cows. The market remained strong and prime yearlings and feeder cattle were from 3 to 7c a kilo dearer. Heavy steers improved by 10 and cows held firm compared to last week’s sale.

Yarded 17389 including 10821 lambs . Lamb numbers remain extremely light and not all the usual buyers operated. However competition was strong and prices were slightly easier with most lambs $3 to $4 cheaper compared to last week’s sale.

There were 2305 yarded. Numbers increased again and the market eased. There were mostly yearlings penned with the usual run of cows and heavier steers. Prime yearling steers and heifers and also feeder steers dropped by 6 to 7c, heavy steers fell by 10c and cows were 15 to 20c a kilo cheaper compared to last week’s sale.
