Question of the Week?

July 28, 2016 by Maggi Barnard

What would you do if you won $8.8 million?

FayGreen

Fay Green, Forbes North Public School: I would pay off all my debt, set my children up and move to Cooktown in Queesland. We have just bought a property there for the fishing lifestyle. We’d be able to fish for the rest of our lives!

JanelleJackson

Janelle Jackson, KMWL: I’d retire, share some money with my family and friends and go on holiday to Canada to see my family living there.

LorraineAllen

Lorraine Allen, Taxi Driver: The first thing I’d do is to help two of my children who have mortgages to pay it off, and I’d buy a house for my third child who does not own a home at the moment. I wouldn’t have to work again – I’ve been working since I was 16. I have a caravan and I would tour all around Australia. It is the best country in the world!

What do you think of the Pokémon Go craze?

AprilLewis

April Lewis, Spotlight: I think it’s good for getting people with anxiety and depression out of the house. It is bad as people get ignorant and don’t look when crossing roads. I play it with my friends but am always aware of my surroundings. I think there are better games out there.

SabrinaCalvani

Sabrina Calvani, Aglio E Olio: I don’t know much about it, but what I hear I don’t like as adults are crossing roads without looking. What are we teaching kids?

JohnHick

John Hick, Bunnings: I love it. I play it with my kids. We walked at least 20km over the weekend. I grew up with Pokémon and wished this game had come out when I was a kid.

What did you think of the Sydney Weekender program on Forbes?

HelenBrinckley

Helen Brinckley (with grandkids Charlie and Sophia), Royal Far West: It was interesting. The cars were great. I suppose it is the first time I’ve ever seen anything rural and with animals on the program. They could have showed a little bit more of Forbes.

WendyAdams

Wendy Adams, Vinnies: It was very good and very well presented. It can only mean good things for Forbes. A lot of people like this little town. It is very unique.

JoanBeadon

Joan Beadon, Royal Far West: It was a great program. I liked the bit about the motor museum. It’s a pity they did not show more of it. I think it will be very good for Forbes.

What do you think of the election’s inconclusive result at the moment?

Jodie Dunn

Jodie Dunn: I think it’s exciting as I dislike the Coalition. The situation at the moment is giving the Coalition a run for their money.

Anita Pout

Anita Pout: I guess either way the politicians are not going to do what they promised. Whatever the result, it is not going to change anything really.

Talesha Dunn

Talesha Dunn: I voted, but I felt very confused who to vote for. I think we need a Barack Obama personality in Australia to make us all happy.

What do you like about The Forbes Phoenix?

Catherine

Catherine Newcombe: The Forbes Phoenix covers a wide range of topics and businesses, as well as relative issues the community wants to know about.

Niki

Niki Cruise: The best thing is that it is smaller than the average newspaper which makes it easier to flick through. I love the fact that it focuses on Forbes. The community notices are very good.

Rebecca

Rebecca Roach: It is good to get information on what is going on around town. I enjoy seeing familiar faces in it.

730

733

Georgia Dagger: I like watching movies. At the moment I am into the TV series Game of Thrones.

What did you do on the long weekend?

Josh Vale

Josh Vale: I played golf in the CanAssist Golf Day on Saturday then worked Saturday night. Sunday I played Rugby League for the Magpies against Parkes in Parkes and I rested on Monday.

Lousie Allen

Louise Allen: I caught up with family at an Uncle’s 70th birthday party at Merriwagga, a little place between Hillston and Goolgowi.

SANY0295

Maree Schrader: On Saturday I volunteered for Forbes CanAssist at the Charity Golf Day. On Sunday I went to the footy in Parkes – I love watching many of my ex-students play, there are some in every grade. I relaxed on Monday.

What is your favourite warm drink for winter?

Debra Slack-Smith

Debra Slack-Smith: My favourite warming winter drink is Hot Milo. I put the milo in first, then add the cold milk and heat in the microwave.

Fran Emmett

Fran Emmett: Hot Milo is my warm drink of choice for winter. I make it on cold milk and warm it in the microwave. I add an extra sprinkle of milo on the top before heating for that added crunch.

Tim West

Tim West: You can’t beat Hot Chocolate in the winter. I make mine on warm milk but I don’t like it too sweet.

What is the most impractical Mother’s Day gift you’ve been given?

DSC00264

Bronwyn Horan: A paddlepop stick ashtray holder. I don’t smoke!

image2

Michelle Greenhalgh: I’ve been really lucky, I haven’t received any impractical gifts.

image1

Irene Parker: When my daughter was five she gave me clip on earrings. I have pierced ears, but I still wore them for her.

What do you think about Daylight Savings ending?

Cody Banks

Cody Banks – I don’t like that daylight savings has finished. I liked being able to do heaps of stuff after school before it gets dark.

John Schrader - Copy

John Schrader – I like the fact that it has finished. I think it starts about three weeks too early and finishes about three weeks too late.

Rachel Wythes

Rachel Wythes – I like it. My husband is home earlier and we can have dinner before 9pm.
