Aussie Croquet was not played on Saturday 15th June as the grounds were far too wet underfoot. Tuesday 18th saw 34 keen players come along and brave the cold and foggy conditions. Well our event of the year is finally here – make sure you rug up and come along to Chillfest on Friday night and Frost and Fire on Saturday.
On Friday night – our family friendly Chillfest event is being held – all ice skating spots have been booked but there will still be two indoor movies – Elemental at 7pm and the Rise of the Guardians at 8.45pm.
There will be a blow up igloo and an outdoor DJ. There will be plenty of hot food choices and glow up products for sale.
Frost and Fire tickets are still available – $30 for adults and children free, for a night of live entertainment from fire dancers, a first nations dance group and of course so much of our home grown talent including international sensation Vera Blue.
This year it is absolutely one not to miss.
So much talent, Cameron Sharp will start the night as only he can, with classics that are sure to get you up and dancing, so make sure you get there at 4pm. Better still catch a bus from either Town Hall, the Renfree Street carpark or Apex Caravan Park.
Free buses are running all night to get you there and back.
Next up entertainment wise we have Em, Cler and Jo and Gracey Denham Jones, before Aria chart topper Raechel Whitchurch performs. As you all know Frost and Fire is all about fantastic live music, fire buckets and friends so do not miss out.

So come early and find a spot near one of the 20 fire buckets, rug up and enjoy a really amazing night of live entertainment.

Forbes Magpies took the two points on Derby Day with a 22-18 win over Parkes Spacemen. Image credit: Parkes Spacemen Facebook page.
The biggest day on our local rugby league calendar is the June long weekend Parkes versus Forbes Derby Day, which has become a long standing tradition between the twin towns.
A massive crowd flocked to Pioneer Oval in Parkes on Sunday 7th June, to witness the clash between Parkes Spacemen and Forbes Magpies.
Parkes started the day strong, and were off to a thrilling start, taking out the League Tag 10-4, 18s 20-18 and Reserves 20-16, but it was Forbes who were victorious in the first grade battle, winning 22-18.
Forbes Magpies Coach Cameron Greenhalgh said, “We haven’t beaten Parkes on Derby Day since 2018, it was good to get the win over there. We let a substantial first half lead slip away, it was 22-4 at half time and they came back to 22-18, but we hung on and got the two points.”
Each year, a massive Forbes crowd travels across to Parkes to support the team, and always get the players pumped up.
Parkes Spacemen President Tony Dwyer said, “This particular round between Parkes and Forbes is known as one of the best local derbies in country rugby league.
It’s great to see Forbes enjoy it as much as us, you see how many people it brings over and how pumped up they get for it, they just love beating us over here.”

The Forbes Country Music Club June muster was held Sunday 9th June and was an afternoon of fun and great entertainment for all.
