Forbes High School student Baedon Isbester is one of the recipients of the Victor Chang School Science Awards this year. He and other students from NSW schools were presented with their awards at a special ceremony held at the Dubbo Regional Council recently. Professor Jamie Vandenberg, Deputy Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney presented the awards.
Principal of Forbes High School, Charles Dwyer, said: “Baedon was nominated by our science teachers as he has demonstrated the highest achievement in scientific studies throughout the year. I congratulate Baedon on his committed approach to his studies and the recognition that he has achieved.” The Victor Chang Science Awards were
established over a decade ago to honour bright, young students excelling in the subject, with a hope that they consider a career in that field.
Dr Victor Chang made pioneering contributions to the field of heart transplantation because of his curious and enquiring mind and passion for discovery. The more than 200 winning students will be invited to tour the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Darlinghurst, Sydney next month and learn from world renowned researchers, all working towards finding cures for heart disease. They will also have the opportunity to do work experience with leading researchers on the day.
