The tree was purchased by Forbes Shire Council and was planted by Deputy Mayor Chris Roylance and Forbes R.S.L Sub Branch President Bryan Jones.

Forbes Shire Council: To mark Remembrance Day a Lone Pine seedling has been planted next to the Cenotaph in Victoria Park. The seed for this tree is from the original lone pine tree from the Battle of Lone Pine during World War 1. The seed it grew from can be traced back to a pinecone from the original Lone Pine tree that an Australian soldier mailed back to his mother in Australia, who planted and grew more Lone Pine trees from them.

NSW Government: It’s been a year since mobile phones were banned in all NSW public schools, and the results speak for themselves: better focus, more learning, and a big boost in socialising. Nearly 1,000 school principals report improved concentration and less social isolation among students.
