GRAND PLANS FOR SPORTS FANS: Forbes Shire Council staff seek those who wish to contribute to the Sports mas-ter plans to come along to Forbes Skate Park tomorrow Saturday 22nd October from 10am-12noon. Photo of Grinstead Oval courtesy of Forbes Shire Council.

Forbes Shire Council’s commitment to the ongoing development of sporting facilities in the Shire with their Community Strategic Plan will take the next step in the process targeting improvements to sporting infrastructure and giving residents opportunities to express their views.

Many sporting facilities across the Forbes Shire have been developed in an ad hoc nature without a set direction. The preparation of Council approved master plans will assist to ensure development of these occur in line with Council and community needs moving forward. In accordance with the Recreation and Open Space Strategy, master plans will be developed for all sport and recreation facilities across the Forbes Shire, commencing with major sport precincts.

These master plans will be completed in consultation with all key stakeholders using the facilities and Council will ensure a variety of engagement methods are utilised to best understand the stakeholders needs and wants, in conjunction to those of Council. In turn, these actions and development proposed within these plans will be costed and will inform and provide support for grant applications, through Council’s endorsed wish list.

For the initial stage Council will develop master plans via consultation with key stakeholders for the following sporting precincts:
• Spooner Oval/Hughie Wilson
• Botanical Gardens
• Grinstead/South Circle
• Halpin Flat/Gaggin Oval
• Stephan Field

The first of these opportunities to contribute to Sports master plans will be held at Forbes Skate Park on Saturday October 22.

FSC staff will have some maps on hand for those who attend on the day to draw on to show us everyone their great ideas. Come on down and talk to the FSC team between 10am-12 noon – they are all ears!!

For more information, please contact Forbes Shire Council on 02 6850 2300.
