Croquet Players Back For A Crack

October 8, 2021 by Maggi Barnard

It was a sad week last week when we learnt of the passing of Judy Ellis who was our President from 2004 to 2008. We all wore black arm-bands and had a minute’s silence in her memory.

We had 27 players for Aussie Croquet on Saturday October 2nd and again we only had 2 winners of 3 games – Cheryle Toohey and Barry White.

The big winners:
• 14-10 Merv Langfield, Barry White, Jill Rubie, Joan Littlejohn, John Allegri and Neville Spry

Close games:
• Kevin Rubie and John Cole 14 Geoff Coles and Harley Stewart 13
• Dorelle Scott and Ray Burridge 14 John Browne 13
• John Farah and John Cole 14 Dorelle Scott and Robin Pols 13
• Geoff Coles and Tony Thomson 14 Kevin Rubie and Lyn Simmonds 13

Next Saturday October 9th we are holding a special day for anyone who is interested in playing croquet to be at the courts at 8.30am for a bit of tuition, then a game to follow. Mallets will be provided. After the game a free morning tea and a bit of a yarn!

So hope to see you there.
