Week Ending 18th May
There was a full quota of players for our Tuesday’s golf croquet with some very close games. One of the better games was between Tony Thomson and Ken Styles who defeated Evelyn Mahlo and Colleen Liebich. There were only three winners of their three games; they were Kevin Rubie, Bill Scott and Neville Spry.
On Saturday, one game in particular that got the attention of the players was that between Anne Stewart and Kevin Rubie 14, who defeated Doreen Rogers and John Cole 13. Three of the four players were aiming to get to the finishing peg or as close to it as possible while waiting for Doreen to pass through the last peg. Anne Stewart and Kevin Rubie were trying to peg out while John Cole kept hitting them away while waiting for his partner. Anne missed the peg twice but finally hit the peg to the delight of the fellow members sitting watching.
The winners of three matches were Colleen Liebich, Jill Rubie and Barry White.
