4BBB Stroke Championships

June 27, 2019 by Maggi Barnard

The weekend saw the playing of the 4BBB Stroke Championships, with only a small field of 48 players participating, who still showed quality of play.

The Scratch Winners were Peter Dawson and Dan Bayley, who finished with 69. The Scratch Runners-up were Steve Betland and Mark Collits, on 70, with a few putting issues.

The Handicap Winners were Kim Herbert and Ray Taylor with a score of 66 ½, closely followed by Handicap Runners-up Neil McMillan and Bruce Carpenter on 67 nett.

The ball sweep went to: 69 – Dawson/ Bayley; 70 – S Betland/M Collits; 71 – J Betland/Sallaway; 78 – Shine/McAuliffe, Herbert/Taylor; 79 – B Carpenter/N McMillan; 80 – Duncan/R Nixon. The NTP’s went to: 9th – R Nixon; 18th – M Collits.

Greg Webb celebrated his 65th birthday on the Friday, unfortunately, he and partner Doug Churchill both felt their age on the back-9.

The Sunday’s Stableford Medley field winner was Jeff Haley with 34 points. With no Runner-up or ball sweep. The NTP’s went to: 9th – Bess Shields; 18th – Julie Hurkett.

The Winter 3’s competition rolls on. The week 6 results are: Voucher goes to – Terry Rousell (nett 25.5). Ball winners were: 25.5 – T Rousell; 32.5 – E Coombs, A Baker; 33.5 – G Besgrove, A Tucker. Better conditions this week should help all players.

The next LVDGA Event is the Mixed Fourball Stableford Championship, to be held at Condobolin on Sun 21 July. Then on Sun 4 August is the LVDGA Mens 4B Final, being played at Peak Hill. We need some players to represent the Club at these events. On Saturday 29 June we have an 18-Hole Stroke, sponsored by Forbes TV &
Video Repairs. Sunday we have a Stableford Medley.

On Sat 6 July we have the Monthly Medal, sponsored by Walkers Ag-n-Vet. Sunday we have a Stableford Medley.
