Forbes Phoenix

Mayoral Notes

While there are still a few finishing touches to complete over the coming weeks, Apex Park is now ready for families, children and visitors to enjoy throughout the school holidays. We know the community has been eagerly awaiting the reopening, and we’re delighted to see people already making the most of this fantastic new space.

To celebrate this exciting redevelopment, Council will host an Official Opening and Community Celebration on Sunday 15 November from 11am to 2pm. The free community event will include entertainment, activities and opportunities for residents to explore the new facilities and come together to celebrate this significant investment in our community.

To help us plan and cater for the day, registrations are essential via our website. We encourage residents to secure their place and join us as we officially open this wonderful new community space.

We’re excited to announce that Forbes will join Garage Sale Trail for the first time this year, bringing the popular national event to our community. The biggest community garage sale takes place across two weekends in November, 7-8 and 14-15.

The event gives locals the chance to turn unwanted items into cash while helping reduce waste and support a more circular economy. It’s free to be involved. Registration is open now. Sellers receive helpful resources, promotional materials and will feature on the Garage Sale Trail online map. It’s a great opportunity to declutter your home, give pre-loved items a second life and earn some extra money along the way.

To shop the trail, head to the interactive map at garagesaletrail.com.au/sales to discover a hidden treasure or a pre-loved bargain.

The countdown is on. We are calling for final team registrations for the National BBQ Championships, firing up at Grinsted Oval on 17 and 18 October.

If competing isn’t your thing, come along and enjoy two huge days of smoky competition, delicious food and family fun.

Browse market stalls, enjoy live entertainment, watch cooking demonstrations and keep the kids entertained with a range of activities.

God Bless,
Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM
