Golf Scoring Loses Heat

On Saturday, golfers participated in the Wilf Hodges Memorial Trophy under an Individual Stableford format. The field of 56 played average golf, and were possibly affected by the onset of winter.

The Wilf Hodges memorial Trophy, for the overall individual performance, was won by Anthony Alley with a score of 39 points.

In the A-Division, Anthony Alley (39 pts) took the win, with Dave Rhodes (37) runner- up on count back. The B-Division went George Falvey (37 pts) from Runner-up Denis Culley (37) by count back.

The ball sweep went to 35 points on count back: 39 – A Alley; 37 – D Rhodes, T Griffiths, G Falvey, B Doyle, D Culley; 36 – T Callaghan, A Callaghan; 35 – P Pymont, D Churchill, S Sallaway, G Collits, A Dukes, P  Kay. The NTP’s went to: 9th – P Dawson; 18th – R Smith.

The Stableford Medley on Sunday had a small group of regulars, among whom the winner was regular – Bruce Carpenter with a steady 36 points. Runner-up was Bess Shields, missing out on count back. There was no ball sweep. NTP’s went to 9th – Andy Cogswell, 18th – B Carpenter.

The Winter 3’s comp completed its 2nd week, with some fierce competition. Ben Gear (nett 32) took the main prize on count back from Shirley Redfern. The ball sweep went to – B Gear, S Redfern, B Drabsch, M Field, A Baker and A Lee.

Forbes players travelled to West Wyalong for their Open tournament. Forbes took out the ‘most visitors’ tag from the field of 66.

The Open Trophy went to Paul Redman with a scratch score of 73.

Creditable performances by Forbes players were – Peter Dawson, A-Grade Scratch Runner-up with 74, and Dan Bayley, AGrade Nett with 72 nett and a NTP.

Sunday 3 June will be a busy day with our Pros hosting a ‘Juniors on the Move’ tournament, played over 9 holes, and the Ladies playing the first round of the Billabong 4B Match play.

All are invited to participate in the Can-Assist 4-Person Ambrose on Sat June 8. We encourage as many players as possible to nominate and thus help raise funds for the Forbes group.

Just a ‘heads up’ for the Lachlan Valley DGA Pennants and Championships, being held at West Wyalong on Sun 16 June.

Please place your name on the List on the Pro Shop Notice Board, so that Pennant teams can be organised.

Programme Change – An early notification that on Sat 20 July we shall hold an 18- Hole 2-Person Ambrose, with the scheduled event (4BBB Stableford Multiplier) being shifted to 21 September.
